Oprah Winfrey ’stunned,’ ‘upset’ by dad’s book plans

CHICAGO, Illinois (AP) — Oprah Winfrey said she was “stunned” to learn her father plans to write a book about her.

“I was upset. I won’t say devastated, but I was stunned,” Winfrey told New York’s Daily News in a story published Tuesday.

Winfrey said she laughed when one of her assistants told her the newspaper was calling to ask about a book her father Vernon Winfrey was writing.

“I said, ‘That’s impossible. I can assure them it’s not true,”‘ she said. “… I called him and it turned out he is writing a book. The worst part of it was him saying, ‘I meant to tell you I’ve been working on it.”‘ Read more

Jennifer Hudson in Negotiations to Star with Forest Whitaker in Next Film

Jennifer Hudson is in negotiations to play the daughter of her fellow Oscar winner Forest Whitaker in the film “Winged Creatures,” according to Variety.

Hudson, an Oscar winner for “Dreamgirls” and a former “American Idol” finalist, is trying to fit the film into her busy schedule, as she is recording her first album, which Arista Records will release this fall.

Rowan Woods directs the film, which is an adaptation of the Roy Freirich novel about a group of strangers who form a unique relationship with each other after surviving a random shooting at a Los Angeles diner.

Also starring are Kate Beckinsale, Guy Pearce, Dakota Fanning, Jackie Earle Haley, Embeth Davidtz, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Josh Hutcherson and Troy Garity. Robert Salerno is producing the pic for Unruly Films.

Kerry Washington needed lessons to say ‘n-word’

For her part in “I Think I Love My Wife,” ,actress Kerry Washington had no problem using the F-word,but she needed to be taught how to say the N-word.

Washington says Chris Rock gave her “an on-set tutorial.” She says she never uses the word in her personal life, so Rock had to teach her “how to correctly say the n-word.”

As for the F-word, that just rolled off her tongue. Washington says “I like the F-word.” She says her dad tells her that when she walks into a bar, “sailors run out.”
